Safety Tips

Driving is not particularly easy in Jordan; especially as the country does has many road bumps all over the city. Also many of the roads on the main highways are not stable due to all the maintenance of the roads, here are some tips that will help you sustain a safe drive .

  1. Use your senses
  2. Look around : survey the road ahead so you know what's coming up, and keep an eye on the road behind. Try planning your lane changes a few cars ahead so that you have plenty of time to merge.

  3. Stay awake
  4. If you are tired, do not drive. Driving is often monotonous, especially on the motorway – if you feel yourself getting tired, pull over and take a short break to rest and regain alertness.

  5. Drive according to the conditions
  6. If road conditions are hazardous, reduce your speed accordingly. Wet conditions can add around 18 meters to your braking distance at 100km/h.

  7. Only use your phone when it is safe
  8. A driver's first responsibility is the safe operation of the vehicle. The most important thing that you can do to prevent an accident is to avoid distraction and pay attention to the road at all times. Wait until it is safe to make and receive telephone calls.

  9. Give yourself reaction time
  10. Use the 'three-second rule' to establish if you have allowed sufficient room between yourself and the car in front. It is simple: watch the car in front pass a certain point in the road and then count three seconds. If your car passes the same point before you have counted to three, it means that you are driving too closely to the car in front. This is, of course, depending on the weather and road conditions.

  11. Check your vehicle
  12. Always check and maintain your car in particular the tiers, brakes, lights & wipers in a regular basis.
